Michael Weisser’s distinguished career has spanned taking companies public, litigating in numerous practice areas, and owning extensive commercial real estate holdings and other successful businesses. He has been a member of the New York Bar for approximately 50 years and has been engaged in the purchase, sale, and operation of shopping centers for over 30 years. He owns and manages in excess of one million square feet of commercial real estate, including 15 shopping centers throughout Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, as well as residential apartment complexes. Mr. Weisser is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
In 2009, motivated by the loss of his beloved wife of 34 years after a battle with cancer, Mr. Weisser invested in medical marijuana dispensaries in Colorado and has made significant contributions to cancer research and other philanthropic causes through the Daria S. Weisser Foundation, which he launched in his wife’s memory. In Colorado, his companies own seven cultivation facilities and seven dispensaries. He later joined his son David in founding a nonprofit that successfully applied for a license to cultivate and dispense medical marijuana in New Jersey, which today is the state’s largest operator and dispensed 67.23% of all of the state’s medical marijuana in 2014.
Subsequent to his admission to the New York Bar, Mr. Weisser specialized in tax law, commercial litigation, and real estate and land use. Mr. Weisser has taken several companies public and has served as COO of a publicly traded environmental sciences company.
Presently, Mr. Weisser also co-owns the critically acclaimed vintage clothing brands known as Pines Vintage, Inc. and What Goes Around Comes Around. These companies include a manufacturing and wholesale business as well as retail locations in New Jersey, New York, Colorado, and California. The companies’ clients include leading department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and Harrods in London.
Mr. Weisser holds a J.D. from New York Law School and a B.S. in Finance and B.A.A. in Accounting from Adelphi University.
